Week Thirty Five

Had a pretty good week I'd say. I don't have much to talk about this week but I got a cool story. We had an appointment with one of our investigators this past week, when we showed up to his house no one answered. So we gave it a few hours and tried again. This time we heard someone yell "come in!!" Well, we walked on in and from his room he asked who it was. We told him it was the missionaries. He yelled from his room "Man I just found out I got cancer! And my daughter is sick too!" He came waddling out bended in half, holding his stomach where the cancer was I guess. But he sat down at his kitchen table and asked us what the good word was. We taught him all about the Book of Mormon, and how it can heal the soul. After it was over, we prayed for him, and as we finished we were shaking hands and he started to stand, but as he was standing he started to grab his cancerous stomach but realized he was out of pain. I felt just like those missionaries from the John Tanner story. He was astonished and started offering us a bunch of free stuff. He grabbed some weights and handed them over to us and told us to take them. So that night we walked home with 30 pound weights.

I just gotta say a few words about the Book of Mormon. This book can change your life. You just got to let it. I know it's true, and I've seen it change the lives of many people, spiritually and temporally.  If you haven't read it, read it. (English is weird)  If it's been awhile since you've picked your copy up, put aside some time and go over your favorite scriptures in it.

Byeeeee.

Week Thirty Four

Man this week was quite the week. It's been good though. I only have a few days to report on since we didn't have a pday last week and I got to email on Wednesday! So let's talk about the second half of Wednesday. Holy snow. Anyways we went down to Groveton, and I had a prayer in my heart the entire time for a miracle or something. The areas been dead for awhile because of the snow. No one has wanted to talk or even regard our message. Anyways we were teaching a lesson with a woman the missionaries have been teaching for 9 years. We go over there every once in a while and share a lesson with her. We decided to have a lesson on the gospel of Jesus Christ. After it she just flat out said, "I want to get baptized." She used to have Word of Wisdom issues but gave them up a few months ago. So we are going to be giving her a baptismal date soon! So thanks for any prayers you might have sent this way.

Besides that there were a couple of fun adventures. Most of them involve trekking through the snow. I have a picture of some stairs to show you how much snow really has dropped out here😂 IT'S MARCH DANG IT!

I met a funny dog. I was messing around with it, and told it to roll over and to my surprise the lil dude rolled over😂 everyone was laughing so hard. The people who owned it told me they didn't even teach it that trick. So yeah I'm a dog whisperer now.

Another funny thing. I was at Walmart and bought some eggs and I was complaining how the egg prices had raised, and I bought some anyways because Im a hungry young man. Anyways like 5 minutes after I bought them we got a call from a member who gave us a service opportunity to clean eggs for some people. It was a grand time. When we finished though, they offered us free eggs for life. So they sent us home with a bunch of eggs and told us to call them when we run out. So now I have like 100 eggs. If y'all need any let me know and I'll send them to you😂

One lesson I've really learned this week is that things don't always go our way. In fact on my mission it rarely does. I've listened to a few talks this week, and I kept hearing the phrase "thy will be done". So I've decided to just let God take control. I'll keep doing the right thing, trying as hard as I can as a missionary to do my job, and let the Lord pave the way. If I'm doing the right things, letting the spirit guide me, I can't fail.

Anyways I hope you guys had a good week!

There has been a small amount of snow here.

Week Thirty Three

Hello everyone! Sorry I'm late to the party. Mission leaders decided to switch P day to a Tuesday this week and God wasn't having it, so we all ended up with no p day this week, buuuuut I've got time to email. So that's good. Anyways it's been a fun little week.

Not much different than the week before, but I had exchanges with the Randolph Elders, and I finally got to work in their area. While there I taught one of my top 5 restoration lessons! It was great. The woman we taught had some memory issues. When we told her about Joseph Smith and the first vision she told us she'd never forget that, and that it felt so right. Then we had a good time walking the streets of Berlin too, it was nice to be able to street contact again. It's something you take for granted when you're not in a rural area. Anyways it was a successful exchange and to end it, we watched Johnny Lingo until bed time. That's the best way to spend Friday nights on the mission😂

The weather this week has been straight crazy. I've never seen so much snow in my life. I'm getting ready to start squaring up with the stuff. So we had 2 separate snow storms come through this week. I'm pretty sure I'm turning into like a Tokyo street racer. I drifted a corner this past week and I totally thought we were gonna FALL off the road and die in a river, but I pulled it through, and I don't even know why, but I just yelled "I AM THE MASTER COMMANDER! " Me and my comp were laughing so hard. Besides that the snow just keeps falling.

Elder Stegeman Jr and I are staying together for at least one more transfer. We made it our goal to change Colebrook up. Earlier this week we were looking at the paper area books in our house, and we noticed that the missionaries have been doing the same routine each week since 2008. So we're gonna switch things up and try and find and meet people who haven't met the missionaries. It's actually pretty hard to do that in a small town, but I know we can do it. Hope everything is going good with you guys. See ya next week!

It's snowed a little bit here.

Week Thirty Two

Hey everyone! This week went by too fast! I don't remember much from it. I think that's a good thing. Working hard, and trying to save souls.

One thing I do remember happened earlier in the week. So in our mission we have to talk to literally everyone. It doesn't matter if they are on a 3 story balcony shaking a rug off. Anyways, we saw a big group of people and I kinda just slid myself in and said hi. Long story short and a few life stories later, we found out one of the people was a less active member who was baptized a few years back. They had fallen off the path, and said they wanted to start coming back to church, and bring their kids! So that was a miracle.

I had an exchange this week with Elder McCormick. We talked to a ton of people and literally everyone was denying us. I think people were starting to feel bad or something, because one of the people we talked to pulled up next to us in a car and gave us $20 to get lunch. That was pretty nice. So we got some real Canadian poutine.

Just a lot of regular missionary work out here. Oh yeah and I drove to Plymouth during a blizzard. That was exciting. Anyways I wish I could tell you more, but it's kinda a quiet life up here in the north country. I'm trying to change that though. Seems like most people up here are all set. If y'all could send a prayer out this way for me to find someone who isn't all set, that'd be great. Anyways love you guys. See ya!
